Impact folding principle

借助于纵折三角板，沿纸张的纵向获得折，活动伸出折页滚筒冲折纸张，将纸张推两个连续旋转的折辊4之间，将所折页帖压实，并传送到收帖花滚筒。按此原理进行折页的折页装置称为冲击式折页机。冲击式折页机结构简单，适于高速印刷，但折页精度稍低。

滚折式折页原理

已经断切待折的纸张在折页滚筒2和输出滚筒1上，由挑针4挑住转动，在对滚滚筒的连心线上，弹性折刀5将纸张3入滚筒2的空档中，夹板6和7沿折线将其夹紧，并由滚筒2带走，折刀从折缝中退出。利用一个滚筒的折刀和另一个滚筒的夹板在相对滚动中完成折页的装置称为滚筒式折页机。

滚动式折页机折页精度较高，速度快，一般用在卷筒纸书刊轮转印刷机上。根据所完成的折页次数，折帖的类型，采用不同数目的折页滚筒和折页方案。

刀式折页原理

刀式折页是采用折刀1将纸张4压入两个相对旋转的折页辊2之间，再由折页辊送出，完成一次折页过程。完成折页后的纸张被传送带带走，进入第二折，第三折。

刀式折页具有较高的精度，书帖折缝压的实，由于折刀的运动惯性，折页速度较慢。

栅栏式折页原理

由输页装置送出的印张4，经过两个旋转的折页辊2，输送到折页栅栏里，撞到栅栏档板5时，印张便被迫弯曲成对半形折入折页辊3中间，完成折折页，然后将折过一折的书帖到下一个折页栅栏里，用同样的方法进行第二、第三折。后被送到收纸台，完成一个书贴的折叠工作。

冲击式、滚折式、刀式以及栅栏式这四种是常见的折页方式，每一种都有各自的特点。实践固然重要，但是理论知识是实践的提和基础，二者不可荒废其一。
